Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I become a member of the club?

We have social membership for $50, you can to register with PlayHQ (under merchandise) – https://www.playhq.com/afl/org/eden-fc/8ff94361/register

  • How old does my child have to be to play Auskick?

Children can start playing NAB AFL Auskick in the year that they turn five. Children can participate in Auskick until they are 12, however, some States and Territories have different pathway options. Our recommendation for any children over the age of nine is to contact us and we can discuss whether Auskick is the best fit still or whether AFL is better suited.

  • How do returning players transfer clubs?

The 2023 season Transfer Period will open on February 1st and run through until June 30th. The transfer process will work the same as previous years, whereby when a transfer is requested it must go through a series of approvals before it is finalised (i.e. the Source Club/League and Destination Club/League all have to approve the transfer). A reminder that in accordance with the AFL National Player Registration and Transfer Regulations a transfer request will automatically approve after 6 calendar days.

Within the PlayHQ system there are two ways that player transfers can be lodged:

  1. Club initiated transfers (as per the old SportsTG process) and
  2. Player initiated transfers (new functionality in PlayHQ).
  • How long is the AFL season for the Eden Whalers?

The AFL season currently consists of a 14-round regular (or “home-and-away”) season, which runs during the Australian winter (March to September).

  • Can I use my Active Kids Vouchers for Eden Whalers AFL season?

YES! You can definitely use your active kids vouchers (one voucher per child) when registering your child.  We will just need your Active Kids Voucher number.  To apply for your Active Kids Voucher please go to: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-for-an-active-kids-voucher

  • How can I register my child?

In PlayHQ, parents can create a PlayHQ account using their own details, and then they can use their account to register one or more children or dependants making it easier to manage a child’s profile. To do this, when registering the first child, instead of entering their child’s details the parent can enter their own details when asked to initially create a PlayHQ account. Then when the parent progresses to the first page of the registration form, instead of selecting their own name under the “I am registering myself” section they can select the “register new family member or dependant” option under the “I am registering someone else” section. This will then allow the parent to enter the details of the first child and complete the registration process. If the child is a returning player then information on the registration process can be found here and if they are a brand new player the registration process can be found here. Once the parent has finished registering the first child, at the end of the form they can click on “register another participant” and this will restart the form and allow them to register another child to the same Club under the Parent’s account (you can’t register multiple children in the one transaction, you have to complete the form for the first child and then start again for a subsequent child). If a parent wants to register another child to a different Club, when they click on the second Club’s registration link, they will be able to login to their PlayHQ account that they have already created and then follow the same process to register a new family member or dependant under their account.

  • What are the rules of AFL ?

The purpose of the Laws is to explain how a match of Australian Football is played and seek to attain the following objectives:

To ensure that the game of Australian Football is played in a fair manner and a spirit of true sportsmanship; and
To prevent injuries to players participating in a Match so far as this objective can be reasonably achieved in circumstances where Australian Football is a body contact sport.
